The Italian company accepted the invitation of Legambiente aimed at restoring decorum to a wonderful corner of Apulia with the cleanup of garbage on the Ionian seafront to protect the environmental heritage
A “sustainable” gift. To celebrate Christmas and exchange best wishes for the New Year, Gecodor Holding gave itself an entire morning dedicated to environmental protection and the fight against pollution.
Taking up the call of Legambiente, on Wednesday, Dec. 11, the Italian company’s team gathered at the “Lido Azzurro” beach in Taranto, Puglia, for a special initiative. The goal? To restore decorum to a wonderful corner of the world, particularly appreciated by the local community and tourists who enjoy the extraordinary beauty of a natural paradise. An enchanting place that stretches for about four kilometers along the coast, embellished by striking scenery and fine sandy beaches.
The initiative was born out of the need to counter the spread of waste, especially plastic waste, which poses a threat to the marine ecosystem and biodiversity.
Thus, equipped with gloves and bags, with enthusiasm and determination, the Gecodor family worked to collect the garbage on the beach responding present to the green initiative to protect the environmental heritage.
The company considers it a priority to raise awareness among the community to adopt more responsible behavior, especially at a time in history when marine pollution is an increasingly serious emergency.
Great satisfaction with the experience was expressed by the Administrator of Gecodor Holding, Eng. Gaetano D’Oronzio: “We wanted to take care of the sea in winter,” commented Eng. Gaetano, “collecting, for the statistics of Legambiente’s Beach Litter project, 43.5 kg of glass, 40 kg of undifferentiated waste, 16 kg of plastic and 800gr of cigarette butts, as well as 2 plastic tables and 3 chairs. The Taranto Offshore Wind Farm was the perfect setting for our celebratory photos. I am sure,” Eng. D’Oronzio then concluded, “that we will continue our commitment in this battle that must see us united for the protection, care and enhancement of our territories that constitute a heritage of inestimable value.
