Energy storage systems: a strategic investment with Gecodor
Build a renewable future
Invest in Energy Storage systems with Gecodor
Storage facilities will play an increasingly important role in future electricity system scenarios and in the management of energy from renewable sources.
In this context, photovoltaic storage systems become indispensable for fully exploiting the energy produced while ensuring security, grid adequacy and dispatching services that are essential for system balance.
Gecodor develops projects for the installation of energy storage systems designed for investors who want to improve the sustainability of their plants.
It also develops Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects designed for investors who want to seize the opportunities offered by the new regulatory framework, actively participating in Terna auctions for storage capacity.
Each project is tailor-made, based on the characteristics of the site and the objectives of participation in the MACSE mechanism.
Storage and the electricity market: the new MACSE mechanism
Legislative Decree 210/21 introduced the Mechanism for the Procurement of Electricity Storage Capacity (MACSE), which allows the national system to acquire new storage capacity through long-term contracts awarded through competitive auctions managed by Terna.
Operators selected at the end of the auctions have:
- the obligation to build the plant;
- the obligation to make storage capacity available to third parties on the energy market through the GME platform;
- the obligation to offer capacity on the MSD (Dispatching Services Market);
- the right to receive a fixed annual premium from Terna.
Participation offers the opportunity to be part of a long-term national strategy that integrates renewables, reduces dependence on fluctuations and creates new prospects for profitability.
With Gecodor, storage systems are sized and managed to ensure full compliance with MACSE requirements, transforming a regulatory obligation into a real investment opportunity.
