Gecodor continues noise monitoring campaign for its wind projects
Gecodor carries out a series of background noise measurement campaigns in the areas affected by its wind projects, with the aim of ensuring maximum protection of public health and the environment, while complying with current noise pollution regulations.
A commitment to land protection
The activities are conducted in accordance with the Ministerial Decree June 1, 2022 – “Determination of criteria for the measurement of noise emitted by wind power plants and the containment of related noise pollution” (published in Official Gazette No. 139 of June 16, 2022).
The decree defines in a timely manner the measurement methodologies, operating conditions and evaluation criteria necessary to determine the noise impact of wind power plants, ensuring alignment with the provisions of the Framework Law on Noise Pollution no. 447/1995 and subsequent implementing decrees.
Technologies and methodologies adopted
The monitoring campaigns initiated by Gecodor involve the use of class 1 sound level meters for the detection of sound levels and professional anemometers for the measurement of wind speed and direction.
The measurements are carried out continuously and simultaneously, under different meteorological conditions, in order to ensure a comprehensive analysis of pre-existing background noise and all context parameters.
In accordance withArt. 4 of M.D. 1/06/2022, measurement locations representative of the area of influence of the project are identified, whileArt. 5 of the same decree establishes the general criteria for the containment of noise pollution during the operating phases of the plant.
Transparency and environmental responsibility
The data acquired will be processed and validated according to the technical protocols provided for in the ministerial decree, ensuring transparency, traceability and scientific accuracy.
The results of the campaigns will form the basis for objectively assessing the possible acoustic contribution of the wind farm, ensuring that noise levels remain well within legal limits and compatible with the quality of life of local communities.
